Siberan Larch

Hi Stan - quick couple ?'s pls, re Siberian Larch, is this a good time to trim this tree - about 30' high now, and nicely branched out. Want to cut top a bit and perhaps remove some longer branches. Also have you any info about 'orchids - Hymalayan'. Someone told me they are orchids, and wonder about the proper name. They grow lovely, very strong in winds, and hardy re frost. The flowers are a variety of pinks, and when they go to seed, the pod pops when ripe and are touched. Perhaps you can point me to proper www to view info.

Thanks a lot Stan

Carol - Yes, a good time to trim your larch, then a good soaking before freeze up. Re: the 'orchid'. Not so, the plant is impatien glandulifera roylei ... Himalayan balsam. Also called jewel weed.
