Stan:

Is it OK to put fruit or vegetable matter that might have a bit of mould on it in the compost bin?

Patricia

Pat - Mold on plants or other plant products will do no damage to the compost; in fact the mold will help break down the cells of compost material for a healthier product.

What can occur, however, is that you or your family may suffer from mold spores causing breathing problems, both indoors and out.
